About us

We started in a back room with four jackets and a very cold winter.

Alaska Threads began in 2011 as a small workshop repairing other people's outerwear. After a few hundred blown zips and torn shoulder seams, we had a fairly complete picture of how winter clothing fails — and a strong opinion about how to build it so it doesn't.

Today we design a compact collection twice a year: outerwear, knitwear and the layers that live underneath them. Every piece is specified around the same standards — mid-weight naturals, taped or bound seams, hardware you can replace, and a cut that works over another layer without pulling.

We keep the range small on purpose. It means we can stand behind everything on the rail, hold stock in depth rather than breadth, and get your size to you the same week you order it.

Designed in AnchorageEvery piece is prototyped and worn through a full season before it goes on sale.
Repair before replaceFree seam and zip repairs for the first year on any garment we make.
Held in depthWe stock full size runs rather than a token curve, so your size is actually there.
