Description

The frames are cut and tumbled from Italian block acetate, a material that warms to the face rather than staying cold like injection-moulded plastic. Lenses are CR-39 with a polarised film laminated in the middle of the blank, not applied to the surface where it can scratch off. Category 3 tint, which is the right density for bright snow without going so dark you can’t read a trail sign.

These are wide enough at the temple to cut side glare, which is the failing of most narrow frames on a clear day over open ground. Hinges are five-barrel with steel core wire running the length of the arm, so they can be heated and adjusted by any optician rather than being bent permanently out of true. Screws are standard 1.4mm and two spares ship in the case.

Care

Rinse under cool water before wiping to lift grit, then dry with the supplied cloth. Avoid alcohol or window cleaner, which will haze the lens coating over time.

Bought these for driving into low winter sun and they do exactly that job. Glare off a wet road just goes away. Frames warmed up to my face after a day and now they sit without pinching.

  2. Hannah Vogt (verified owner)

The spare screws are a small thing but I lost one on a previous pair and had to bin them. Nice to see someone thought about it. Lenses are properly polarised, tested against my phone screen.

  3. Rafael M. (verified owner)

Excellent optics and no distortion at the edges. They’re on the larger side, so if you have a narrow face you may want to size down or get the arms adjusted. My optician did it in five minutes.
