Description
A 650-fill down vest in a 20D recycled ripstop, quilted in narrow horizontal channels so the fill cannot migrate to the hem. It weighs a little under three hundred grams and stuffs into its left hand pocket, which then clips to a bag strap.
The vest is the layer that does the most work for the least bulk. Under a shell it adds core warmth without a second sleeve to fight; over a flannel it is enough on its own until the frost sets in. The armholes are bound rather than elasticated so they do not ride up when you reach overhead, and the hem has a single-hand drawcord on the right side only, so the cord is never sitting under a pack belt on your left.

Fit
Trim through the body so it sits under a jacket cleanly. Take your normal size; there is enough room for a mid-weight knit but not for a thick sweater.
Care
Machine wash cold with down detergent and tumble dry low with dryer balls until fully lofted. Store it unpacked on a hanger over the summer rather than compressed.

Warmer than the weight suggests. Rust colour is deeper in person than on screen, which I actually prefer. One drawcord instead of two took some getting used to but it makes sense with a pack on.

Lives in my bag from October to April. Packs down to about the size of a grapefruit and weighs nothing. The bound armholes make a real difference when I am reaching up on a ladder.
