Description
Cut from full-grain vegetable-tanned cowhide at 2.2mm, thick enough that the bag holds its shape empty. Panels are skived at the joins and saddle-stitched at the corners where the load concentrates, then the base is set on five solid brass feet so it can be put down on wet ground without soaking through. The main zip is a brass number 8 with a leather pull, running on a rolled leather storm flap.
Inside, the whole bag is lined in cotton twill with two zipped end pockets and a divider that takes a pair of shoes without touching clean clothes. It goes into an overhead locker on most short-haul aircraft at 52cm. Vegetable-tanned leather starts pale and darkens unevenly around the handles first, which is the honest way a bag records where it has been. Detachable shoulder strap included, with a leather pad that slides along it.

Care
Keep it out of direct sun for long periods, which will darken one side faster than the other. Feed the leather with a neutral cream conditioner twice a year, and let any rain dry naturally rather than near heat.

Six flights so far and it has fit the locker every time. The brass feet have already earned their place, I’ve put it down on wet platforms twice. Leather has gone from tan to a deeper honey around the handles.

The shoe divider is genuinely useful rather than a gimmick. It’s a heavy bag empty, so if you struggle with weight the shoulder strap is not optional. Stitching at the corners is immaculate.
