Description

Made from 12oz waxed cotton with a cotton drill lining and a leather-reinforced strap anchor at each side. The flap is cut long enough to cover the opening even when the bag is full, and it closes on a single antique brass turn-lock that opens with a thumb.

The strap is 32mm webbing with a leather slide, adjustable from hip to across the chest, and it’s long enough to wear over a winter coat without running out of holes. Inside there’s a slip pocket sized for a phone and a pen loop next to it. There is one deliberate omission: no zip on the main compartment, because a zip on a bag this size is more often a snag than a security feature.

  • Lining: cotton drill
  • Strap: 32mm webbing with leather slide, adjustable

Care

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and let it dry naturally. Re-wax the flap and base when water stops beading, usually after a couple of wet winters.

It holds exactly what I want it to and nothing more, which is the point. Turn-lock opens one-handed with a glove on. The strap is long enough to go over a puffer jacket, which most crossbody straps aren’t.

Good size for city days. The waxed finish transferred a faint mark onto a light coat in the first week, which brushed off. Worth hanging it somewhere to air before you wear it with pale colours.

I have small hands and heavy bags hurt my shoulder, so a half kilo empty was the deciding factor. Carried it all day at a conference with no ache. Notebook and paperback fit with room over.
