Description
Cut from 20oz natural cotton duck, undyed and unwaxed so it softens and pales with use. The handles are the same canvas, folded four times and stitched through, then anchored to the body with leather patches and a box-and-cross stitch at each of the four attachment points. That stitch is the reason cheap totes fail at the handle and this one does not.
The base is boxed 14cm deep so the bag stands loaded on a kitchen counter instead of tipping. There’s one internal slip pocket, positioned high so keys don’t end up under the shopping. It will carry more than is sensible to lift, which is worth remembering at the market.

Care
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and dry flat; expect some shrinkage on the first wash and a softer handle afterwards. Do not tumble dry, as it will pull the base out of square.

Heavy canvas, properly stitched, and the boxed base is well judged. It’s stiff enough out of the box that it doesn’t fold down small for storage. Fine if you use it constantly, less so if you want it in a drawer.

Two years of weekly grocery runs and the handles haven’t moved. The canvas has faded to a nice soft cream and gone floppy in the good way. Stands up on the counter while I unload, which sounds trivial until you have a tote that doesn’t.

Well made and I’ll keep using it. But the natural canvas marks easily, and a leaking punnet of berries left a stain that a cold wash didn’t fully shift. A darker colour option would suit me better.
