Description
Seven-gauge British lambswool, spun and knitted in the Scottish Borders, in a simple half-zip with a stand collar that closes right up under the chin. The zip is a metal chain on wool tape so it does not distort the knit either side, and it runs a little longer than most so you can actually open it up when you get warm.
This is the heaviest knit we make and it is meant to do two jobs. Indoors it is enough on its own in a cold house. Outside it goes under the waxed coat or the shell and adds most of the warmth in that combination. The collar is worked in a doubled rib so it stands rather than folding over, and the elbows are knitted at a slightly denser tension, which is where a wool sweater usually goes first.

Fit
Roomy by design so it clears a shirt and a tee. True to size for layering. If you intend to wear it directly over a t-shirt only, size down.
Care
Hand wash cool with wool detergent and dry flat, zip closed so the tape does not pull. Comb off pills after the first month rather than picking them, and store folded with cedar over the summer.

Beautiful yarn and it has softened nicely after airing. It is roomy, so if you are between sizes and not layering, go down. The long zip is the right decision.

Heavy in the way a wool sweater should be. The stand collar genuinely stays up instead of flopping. Wore it under a waxed jacket through a cold snap and did not need anything else.
