Description
Twelve-gauge merino from a mulesing-free supply chain, knitted at a weight that sits between a fine gauge and a proper winter sweater. The body is fully fashioned, meaning the panels are knitted to shape and linked rather than cut from a piece, so nothing unravels at the seam.
It is the layer you can wear alone in an office and still put under a parka in February without feeling the bulk. The ribbing at the cuff and hem is knitted tight enough to hold its shape after a full season, and the shoulder seam is set slightly inboard so a jacket sits over it cleanly. Merino handles a week of wear before it needs washing, which matters more than it sounds when you are travelling.
Specification
- Yarn: 100% mulesing-free extra-fine merino, 19.5 micron
- Gauge: 12gg, fully fashioned panels
- Rib: 2×2 at cuff, hem and neck
- Made in Portugal
Fit
A regular fit with a slight taper at the waist. True to size. It will relax about a centimetre through the body after the first wear and return with washing.
Care
Hand wash cool with wool detergent, or use a wool cycle in a mesh bag. Dry flat away from heat and never hang it wet. Air it between wears instead of washing.

Third winter with mine and the cuffs have not stretched out at all. Fine enough to wear under a coat and still look like a sweater on its own. The oatmeal is a warm cream rather than grey-beige.

Good weight and no itch at all, which I was worried about with merino. Slight pilling under the arms after a few months but a comb sorted it. Fits exactly as described.

Wore this for eight days of travel and washed it once. Holds its shape and does not hold smell. The shoulder seam sits properly under a jacket, which most sweaters get wrong.
