Description
Knitted in Portugal from 19.5 micron extrafine merino in a 2×2 rib, worked in the round so there is no seam anywhere on the hat. The turn-up is a doubled fold, giving two layers of wool over the ears where you need it and one over the crown where you don’t.
Merino at this gauge holds warmth even after a walk in wet snow, and it doesn’t hold smell the way synthetics do, so it goes days between washes. Wear the cuff single for a shallow fit or unfold it for full ear coverage. The crown is decreased over eight points rather than gathered, so it sits flat instead of forming a nipple at the top.

No itch at all, which is why I bought merino in the first place. I’ve had it out in minus twelve with the cuff down and my ears were fine. It packs into a jacket pocket and comes out without a crease.

Warm, light, holds shape after a week of daily wear. Slightly shorter in the body than my old beanie so with the cuff folded it sits right at the top of my ears. Not a fault, just check if you like a slouchy fit.

The wool is genuinely nice and I have no complaints about how it wears. The colour was a bit warmer grey than it looked online, closer to taupe than the charcoal I expected. Delivery also took nine days.

Seamless knit is worth the money. My last beanie had a seam across the crown that pressed a line into my forehead all day. This one just disappears.
