Description
Six-ounce waxed canvas, four patch pockets, a plain collar and a brushed cotton flannel lining in a small check. It buttons rather than zips, which is slower but means there is nothing on it that can seize up.
We made this to be the jacket you stop thinking about. It is warm enough for a dry autumn morning on its own and works under a shell when the weather turns. The cuffs adjust with a second button so you can get them over a watch, and the two lower pockets are set at a height that works when you are carrying something in the other hand. The interior seams are flat-felled, so if you wear through an elbow it can be patched rather than binned.

Fit
Boxy and hip length, worn over a shirt or a light knit. True to size for a relaxed fit; size down if you want it close.
Care
Spot clean with cold water and a soft brush. Re-wax the cuffs and elbows as they lighten. Wash only if you are prepared to lose the wax finish and re-proof it afterwards.

This has become the jacket I wear every day from September onward. Flannel lining is soft and has not pilled. Spare buttons in the pocket is a small thing that says a lot.
